Sometimes you want to try something other than a California Cab, so this was the day I was going to experiment with a Washington State Cabernet. A really nice everyday cabernet! This wine has a deep garnet color with hnts of cherry and coffee upon opening. The finish was a little short but for the price it had exceptional value The wine was a little closed but opened up after 1 hr.

Once in a while I get tired of big Californian Cabernet's so I hunt down an alternative. When I'm on the prowl I usually end up at The Wine Library because they have such a great selection and I'm a Vayniack.
After searching I found a Montepulciano wine from Italy made from the Sangiovese grape. This really was a nice Italian red wine, not as complex as the Califonia Cabs that I normally drink. It had a great garnet color and fruity bouquet. Very easy to drink with soft tannins. Medium to full bodied. I let the wine breathe about 1hr before serving.Very fruity and jammy. Yummy. I'll buy this one again. Good price as well.

I sometimes like an oaky, buttery chardardonny. This chardonnay definitely had some oak and butter, but not too overpowering. Nice bouquet of peach and lemon. Nice smooth buttery finish. Definitey a good choice for those that like oak and butter!

Spanish wines can be great and this one is no different. Made from the Tempranillo grape this Rioja is fine pairing with steak, chicken or pasta. Oh did I like this one! Lots of black cherry and some coffee. Big finish.I'll buy this one again. A definite change from the big California Cabernets that I taste. Sometimes you want something just a little different.
Let this one breathe about 1 hr before you enjoy!

They say Pouilly Fuisse is the great Chardonnay alternative to big Califonia Chardonnay in France and what a nice Pouilly Fuisse this was. Just a hint of oak with a touch of peach. A very distinctive yellow/green color to this wine. A classical Burgundian style French white wine made from Macon area.
If you like Chardonnay, try this with little oak. A nice white wine with a nice price. Goes great with seafood, appetizer or no food!

I am boring sometimes and like Chardonnay, maybe because I eat a lot of fish. Sometimes I don't want to drink a big oaky California wine so I switch it up and decide "let's go French". So off I go to my little wine shop that specializes in French boutique wines. It just so happens that I have 2 wines shops that I go to for French boutique wines.
This was a lovely French Chardonnay from the Macon area with just the right amount of oak, with hints of peach and almond. It really had a nice long finish. Quite a little wine, at a nice price. A tasty alternative to California Chardonnay.
