I had this lovely Cabernet at Daryl's Wine Bar as part of my wine tasting. The tasting was quite costly but I really enjoyed this wine. The Hendry 2004 Cabernet was a deep garnet color but what  truly amazed me was the dominant aromas of tobacco and cassis. It truly blew me away. The wine was very drinkable with a nice long finish. They wine steward told me if you like it now, try it in a couple of more years and it will be even better. Maybe I should buy a bottle and check it out.

Made from 100% Cabernet, this wine had a great backbone with smooth tannins. Good find!

Why is it that it seems that the price of Oregon Pinot Noir has taken off? Eveytime I go into the liquor store and try to purchase a decent Oregon Pinot, it seems they try to rival California Cabernet's in price. Some of the Pinot's are now above $20-$25.

In the heart of the Willamette Valley, in the Eola Hills district of the Valley is the vineyard. A large vineyard making some nice everyday drinking Pinot Noir. I tasted this Pinot Noir as part of my wine tasting flight at the vineyard and even bought a bottle home. It's a good eveyday drinking Pinot Noir not full bodied even a little thin on the palate-that is to me.  There were hints of tobacco and cherry upon opening, with a short fininsh. Classic Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley with s ... Read More »

Rully is a French Burgundian wine made from the Chardonnay grape. French Chardonnays are said to be more elegant, less oak , not as big as the big California style Chardonnays. I'm boring and am used to the big, elegant Chardonnay's of California and decided to change it up and go for a different twist on the Chardonnay grape.

I had this wine with a friend of mine at a nice BYOB restaurant in Westfield, NJ. The wine expressed hints of melon and peach with a nice medium colored yellow. The body was not as full as the big California Charonnays but with a nice medium body and a very nice clean, even crisp finish. Upon opening the wine was very acidic, but as t ... Read More »

What could be better than to taste a great California Cabernet for Father's Day. I happened to drink this wine for Father's Day with my husband and brother-inlaw. The wine by the way was courtesy of my brother-in law, so I want to thank him for the delightful surprise tasting! I decanted the wine in my Spigleau Crystal Decanter and proceeded to taste with all the right accessories: Reidel Glassware, crackers, some cheese..you know, all the right stuff and of course the music, cigars and light Jazz. Sight, Sniff, Swirl,Sip..Easy, right? Hmmmm, the bouquet is nice, cherry. I like that. Hmmmm, what don't I taste? Where's the finish?Let's have a cracker, some cheese and try again. No finish! Where's the wine? Needless to say we were dissapointed or at least I was dissapointed. Having rea ... Read More »

I happened to stumble upon this wine during my Oregon Wine Tour at Van Duzer Winery, Willamette Valley. The cab just so happened to be part of my tasting flight and is made by the Thoma Family in Napa, California. The young lady serving the wines told to me that this Cab is from their "Private" Reserve. WOW...What a find! I came for the Pinot ( which was good) but walked away with a  surprising Cab from Napa. Nice garnet color with a bouquet of cherry and rasberry, medium bodied with a nice finish

I couldn't wait to get t ... Read More »

I have not had a Barolo now for quite sometime, so tonight was the night. My anticipatory juices were flowing and the table was set. A simple dinner of BBQ chicken, vegetables, rice and salad upon my backyard deck.

I let the wine breathe about 1 hr before serving up in my lovely Reidel glassware . Swirl,Smell and Sip. That si ... Read More »

A definite summer time white wine. Floral bouquet of orange blossoms and peach. Big fruit upon opening. This wine should be served cold. It's light and easy drinking. It's also great alone or with a salad. Viognier is a little too sweet for my tastes, but some people love it for its fruitiness. You should try it if your taste is toward a little sweet! A definite steal at this price.
