I have not had a Barolo now for quite sometime, so tonight was the night. My anticipatory juices were flowing and the table was set. A simple dinner of BBQ chicken, vegetables, rice and salad upon my backyard deck.

I let the wine breathe about 1 hr before serving up in my lovely Reidel glassware . Swirl,Smell and Sip. That simple yet so disapointing. I smelled tobacco and earth but tasted flint.

I refocused my senses and tried again. Dry, tannic and earthy, short finish.

Conclusion: Maybe the reason I haven't drank a Barolo in sometime is that I never developed a liking to it. Or ,maybe it was a bad bottle, or vintage.  I think I'll try another Barolo again and compare.
