Stags Leap Winery, not to be confused with Stag's Leap Wine Cellars

Its' very easy to confuse the two wineries both in the Stag's Leap District of Napa. I had the Stags Leap Winery Cabernet not the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. As I said two different wineries yet both produce some excellent Cabernet. The 2005 Cabernet showed aromas of deep chocolate and red fruit with some leather. The tannins were tightly wound. As the evening wore on the wine got much better but some how I was just a little dissapointed in the wine at the end of the evening. Though the bouquet was what I though it would be, the feel was lacking. Not much of the finish I was expecting and not a very seductive wine wanting me to come back for more.

Maybe the wine was too young to drink at this point, maybe it was as simple as a bad bottle but definitley worth another try. I'll have to go out and hunt for another bottle, though not a cheap wine by any means

In the end I really wanted to enjoy this wine but I must say I was dissapointed. I guess I'll have to find another bottle, same vintage and give it another whirl.

Would I buy this baby again? Yes, just to try another bottle to confirm my previous thoughts or to re-discover the wine.
